USCG "LCI-85" was hit by a mine and ripped a large hole in the forward compartments, and then German batteries attack the LCI and sank shortly after this photograph was taken. The LCI-85 was one of four Coast Guard LCI's that were destroyed on D-Day, June 6, 1944.
