First wave of U.S. Coast Guard-manned "LCVP" landing craft  with troops from US First Division close to the shore. The next landing craft shows white smoke from a smoke grenade which burst aboard, probably set off by a German projectile. In background on the beach, you can see many German obstacles hedgehogs, slopes, piles, and the GI which shelter on the slope of rollers. Omaha Beach, 6h40. June 6, 1944, D-Day.
